The most precious time!

Shortly after the birth, settled in bed, midwives stepping back, we get to witness this amazing moment… the time when mom and baby are discovering each other…from the outside! All these many months, they have been learning and knowing each other from the inside. Mom feeling kicks and hiccups…learning wake times and active times. Baby hearing mom’s heartbeat, her muffled voice, her warmth, the soft rocking as she moves about her day.

But now, they see each other. Mom looking at every tiny crevice, toes, fingers, mouth, nose….those amazing eyes! Looking back at her….this is who she has been getting to know this whole time! And to finally see this precious person….it a feeling like no other…. A relationship that will last a lifetime. A precious time of discovery, knowing, and awe.

And I get to witness it….the air in the room, the oxytocin flowing and the precious moment that I know will be etched in their minds forever….❤️🥹
